Discover the work of Manchester based artist Kawsar Ahmed, featured on BBC One’s Home Is Where the Art Is.
Based in Manchester, Kawsar Ahmed’s artistic journey began in childhood, where drawing comic and video game characters first sparked his passion for visual storytelling. His early aptitude for art led to strong academic recognition, followed by formal training with a Foundation Diploma in Fine Art and a BA in Graphic Design, completed in 2005.
Kawsar specialises in expressive abstract and mixed-media painting, characterised by bold colour palettes, dynamic mark-making, and richly layered surfaces. His work is influenced by evolving world cultures, shared histories, and the universal themes that connect human experience across time and place, with a particular focus on resilience, spirituality, and inner strength.
Each composition is thoughtfully constructed, with line, texture, and form working in harmony to explore movement, emotion, and balance. The layered surfaces invite quiet reflection, revealing depth and meaning gradually — much like the complexity of lived experience itself.
Kawsar continues to create original artworks for private collectors, interior spaces, and exhibitions. He was a winner of a final commission on BBC One’s Home Is Where the Art Is (Series 2), and his work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Mauritius International Art Fair and the Istanbul International Art Show.
